Nitrate of potassium is used for production of gunpowder, in pyrotechnics, in the food and glass industry.
The importance of potassium of plants is defined by the following factors:
― strengthens photosynthesis process, assimilation of CO2;
― more considerable time keeps activity of enzymes;
― favors to formation of proteins;
― increases efficiency of nitrogen at cultivation of cultural plants;
― strengthens nitrogen fixing by bean cultures;
― promotes more effective use by water plants;

― reduces receipts in plants of radionuclides.
Introduction with potash fertilizers of 1 ton provides an increase with 1 hectare of a grain yield 2-3t, potatoes – 20-33, sugar beet – 35-40, cotton raw – 1-2, flax fibers – 1-1,5, Sena of artificial herbs –20-33, Sena of meadow herbs – 8-18 tons. Non-chlorine forms of potassium promote increase in productivity of a buckwheat, millet and some grades of tobacco, increase in content of sugar in berries of separate grades of grapes, to the content of starch in tubers of late grades of potatoes and to improvement of quality of a flax fiber. Direct introduction of sulfate and nitrate of potassium practices under such cultures, sensitive to a chlorine ion, as tobacco, a citrus, grapes, tomatoes, carrots, potatoes, lyon, hemp, a buckwheat, berry, flowers. Especially they are demanded at cultivation of vegetables and flowers in greenhouse facilities. Non-chlorine forms of fertilizers are necessary for soils with chloride salinization.
